After many years of discussions and track searching. 8205 is happy to announce a series of three 12” singles by Model, including one of the most sought after unreleased holy grails of 90's jungle/dnb: "Flight" (FKA Model & HLS - "Flights").

First gaining widespread attention as part of the rave group Liquid (of “Sweet Harmony” fame), Shane aka Model broke out on his own in 93, making a name for himself as a regular on Eruption FM (DJ Zinc, Clockwork, etc). He released a pair of singles on his own label Intelligent Mind Recordings, as well as several on Sophisticated Underground Sounds (a label run by Desire/2000AD promoters). Shane also produced a number of other similar style tracks at the time, but they were only ever cut to dub and played by him and a few select DJ friends, not to mention LTJ Bukem.

It was Bukem who went on to cut and play “Flight” in some of his most loved sets of 95/96: Dreamscape 19, The Edge (Intelligent DNB),Chrome, and more. None of these sets ever had official tracklists, so despite being heard by thousands of ravers on the night and in subsequent mixtapes, "Flight" remained a mystery until recent times. Eventually a set clip of “Flight” surfaced on youtube and caused quite a stir, racking up half a million plays (back when that was a quite notable number), with people debating back and forth which producer might have written it. Some people guessed Source Direct, some guessed Photek. It was finally ID'd by a mystery commenter, who claimed to also have a DAT copy, but that person disappeared before anyone could contact him.

As soon as the ID was made, many people were on the case, trying to contact the artist and secure a release. Unfortunately, Shane/Model simply couldn't find this particular tune on DAT. A lot of follow-up work was put into contacting Shane’s friends and people who might also have a copy still, but to no avail - the DAT had seemingly been lost forever. Luckily, Shane did have lots of other classic material from the time, so a series of singles was planned for the future on 8205, with a hope that the "Flight" DAT might eventually turn up. In the meantime, Shane became a favorite person of mine to chat with online, due to his deep knowledge and similar love for tunes and breaks an. Finally, in 2022 the DAT for "Flight" was found, and this series of releases was planned.

With the release of “The Journey Home” series & box set, I'm hoping Shane can finally get some more of the attention he and his tunes rightfully deserve. The tracks spread across these three 12”s perfectly capture the sound of 95 atmospheric jungle/dnb, with rolling amens, classic detroit techno style melodies, and ethereal pads. All of the tunes on "The Journey Home" were written and recorded by Shane/Model in 1994-1995, and have been mastered and cut by Beau Thomas of Ten Eight Seven Mastering.
